Thigh Lift Surgery
Lessen “Saddlebags” and Firm Your Thighs
Men and women with loose or sagging skin on the thighs or those who would like more beautiful legs may opt for a thigh lift or thighplasty. Much like the arm lift, this body procedure removes excess skin and sometimes fat to smooth the shape of the thighs.
If you’ve recently lost significant weight and now have sagging skin on the thighs, a thigh lift can help tighten skin and highlight your new body contours.
Dr. Ali Sadeghi, a double board-certified plastic surgeon, offers thigh lift surgery and body contouring for men and women in New Orleans and the surrounding areas.
What Is a Thigh Lift?
A thigh lift is a surgical procedure that trims loose skin, reduces excess fat, and tightens tissues in the inner and outer thighs.
What Are the Benefits of a Thigh Lift Surgery?
Men and women choose thigh lift surgery to:
- Tighten skin
- Reduce stubborn thigh fat
- Lessen the appearance of saddlebags
- Feel more confident in shorts or dresses
Is a Thigh Lift Right for Me?
Candidates for thigh lift surgery are looking to trim and tighten sagging thigh tissues to create a fitter, firmer leg shape. Candidates should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations for their results.
Thigh lifts target skin that has lost elasticity. Those who are looking to remove stubborn thigh fat may be better candidates for liposuction.
How Is a Thigh Lift Performed?
Thigh lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia.
Incisions for your thigh lift will depend on the extent of your procedure and where the sagging skin is centered. Incisions may be isolated to the buttock crease, the groin area, or extend down the inner leg (toward the knee).
From here, excess skin is trimmed, tissues are tightened, and fat deposits are removed using liposuction.
While a thigh lift results in scarring, Dr. Sadeghi only creates incisions he absolutely has to in order to improve contours. Most scars can be concealed beneath clothing and will fade with time. If possible, Dr. Sadeghi will only make incisions that can be hidden in the buttock’s crease, allowing for zero visible scarring.
How Long Is Recovery After a Thigh Lift?
Thigh lift surgery is an outpatient procedure, and you will be able to return home shortly after your operation.
You will need to avoid placing unnecessary stress on your thighs during the first few days of recovery. In addition, you will wear compression garments over your incisions, as these garments aid in reducing edema (swelling).
Small, thin drainage tubes may also be placed under the skin at the incision site(s) to help reduce fluid buildup. Dr. Sadeghi will remove these drains after a few days.
Dr. Sadeghi recommends significant rest for the first 14 days following your thigh lift. It’s best to return to work part-time at first — often, patients can feel tired for up to six weeks following a thigh lift.
What Are the Risks of a Thigh Lift?
A thigh lift involves general surgical risk, including anesthesia effects, scarring, and the potential need for touch-up procedures. See our patient gallery or testimonials.
Should I Combine My Thigh Lift With Other Surgical Procedures?
Thigh lift surgery is commonly performed alongside liposuction.
Additional combination procedures include:
