How Does BOTOX® Cosmetic Work?
Dynamic wrinkles are caused by repetitive contractions of facial muscles. These movements stretch and fold the skin millions of times over your life until they leave permanent creases.
During a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment, a small amount of the neurotoxin is injected into selected facial muscles. This bacterium blocks the signals that connect nerves to facial muscles. If your nerve signals can’t reach your muscles, then the muscles won’t contract. This helps prevent the stretching and folding of your skin.
What Should I Expect Before, During, and After My BOTOX® Cosmetic Treatment?

Dr. Sadeghi will advise you to stop smoking and drinking a few weeks before your treatment. Abstaining from these helps prevent bruising.
During Your BOTOX® Cosmetic Treatment
When you come to the Sadeghi Center for Plastic Surgery, we do our utmost to make you as comfortable as possible in our luxurious and spa-like environment. The injections themselves take only a few minutes and are administered with a very fine needle.
After BOTOX® Cosmetic
After the injection, you may resume all normal activities (although you may want to avoid strenuous exercise and rubbing your face for 24 hours).
Final results of your BOTOX® Cosmetic are usually seen after two to five days.

Are There Any Side Effects Associated With BOTOX® Cosmetic?
Most patients experience zero side effects after BOTOX® Cosmetic; however, it is possible to have temporary headaches, fatigue, or nausea. Any discomfort should dissipate shortly.
How Much Does BOTOX® Cosmetic Cost?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is administered and priced in units. One unit of BOTOX® Cosmetic typically costs between $15 and $20. Generally, one area of the face needs about 20 units of BOTOX® Cosmetic, but you could receive as few as eight or as many as 60.
The number of needed units generally depends on the depth of your wrinkles or other facial characteristics. During a consultation, Dr. Sadeghi will evaluate the extent of the required treatment.

Are BOTOX® Cosmetic injections painful?
Pain from a BOTOX® Cosmetic injection is mild and usually doesn’t last for more than a half-hour. A headache is possible after BOTOX® Cosmetic; however, over-the-counter pain medication can be taken as needed.
How long do BOTOX® Cosmetic results last?
A typical BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment lasts for four months; however, you might need to return for another treatment after three months if you are a particularly expressive person.
Is BOTOX® Cosmetic safe?
Yes, BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments have been proven safe in many experiments and decades of use.
Should I combine my BOTOX® Cosmetic with other procedures?
